Why Black History Month is about action, not words.

Hi guys, now it’s the first week of October and the start of Black History Month, the team and I wanted to write a personal message re-sharing our stance on inclusivity and why it’s so important to us to have an open dialogue with our community about Black History Month and wider issues surrounding racial equality.

This Black History Month, we’re not just jumping on the bandwagon or making empty promises and whilst we’re dedicating October toBlack History Month, we’re always working towards listening, learning and unlearning; dedicating our time to championing a diverse range of identities, backgrounds and stories. It's one of our biggest and long-running company goals.

Being inclusive as a brand comes down to our values both as a label and as a business. When I founded Lemonade, the one and only thing I wanted to do was make underwear for everyone, so representing that through our products, content and our community is not just important, it’s an essential and we will always speak as loudly as possible for all of our Dolls.

We love seeing our underwear looking absolutely beautiful on a diverse range of bodies and identities, it’s how I designed it to be worn; we’re always showcasing our gorgeous and unique community on our social media channels with our amazing customers, our website through our gorgeous models and working with more inspiring black and POC content creators and influencers.

I’m also dedicated to using our platform to spotlight an amazing selection of Black female-owned businesses, so keep an eye on our Instagram and blog page for some amazing content coming very soon.

This isn’t just a blanket statement, this is what diversity, change and inclusivity looks like!

Love,

Lemon and the Lemonade team x
