Tit Talks: How To Feel More Comfortable And Confident Leaving Lockdown

How To Feel More Comfortable And Confident Leaving Lockdown

As things are slowly starting to get back to some sort of normality (whatever that is) for some of us, this undoubtedly comes with a lot of added anxiety. We have all spent a year cooped up inside talking to our pets! Human interaction is going to be a tricky one! So we have invited our besties from Koi Footwear to share some helpful tips to support you and get you feeling like the badass queen you are. And we will also find out what confidence means to the people behind Koi.

To be completely honest writing about confidence can seem a little ironic at times, as this is something I personally really struggle with. As many of us do, shout out to the patriarchy am I right? To add to this I have now spent a year inside and the only interaction with actual people I have had is with my crazy family and my dog. It's been a wild year and I want to walk you through my six tips on what I am doing to feel comfortable and confident entering back into the big wide world. It can seem really scary at first, but I think we are all about to have that hot wench summer we have been dreaming about.

Take things slowly! Everyone moves at their own pace and do not put any pressure on yourself to do anything you are not totally comfortable with.

And speaking of hot wench summer, there is absolutely no pressure for anyone to go out if they are not feeling it. Sometimes the vibes are off, and you know what? That excuse is perfectly valid. You only need to go out to that gig or the beach when you are good and ready. Have another hot sofa summer if you so desire; there is no need to rush into anything! You need to move at your own speed.

Know your boundaries and limits, it's okay to say no!

You absolutely do not have to do anything you don't want to. Set those boundaries and make sure the people around you know what you are comfortable doing and when.

Wear something that makes you feel good.

They say, give a girl a good pair of shoes and she can take over the whole world! At Koi Footwear we have a selection of sandalstrainers, boots and mary janes all ready to aid in your world domination. You can check them out here. And if I do say so myself, I think these shoes will help you put your best foot forward.

After a year of fashion shows in your living room, it's nice to know when you are ready the world is waiting to see all your showstopping looks.

It's all about self-love and self-care

All those emotions you are feeling are normal and it's imperative to accept your emotions for what they are, feel your feelings and don't be hard on yourself. Life is just too short not to love the shit out of yourself!

Did anyone else develop a game-changing skincare routine they actually managed to stick to over lockdown? Well, keep with it! Spend quality time with yourself and love every minute of it.

Talk about how you are feeling:

Because I promise we are all feeling the same way! Lean on your friends and family for support when needed and be open and honest about how you are feeling. Opening up can feel like a whole weight has been lifted off your shoulders. We are all in this together!

Create a mantra for when you need it:

We have talked a lot about only going out into the galaxy when you feel comfortable. So what happens if you have decided to go out and suddenly you feel really anxious. I think a mantra or positive affirmation can go a long way. Look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how amazing you are! Here are some of my favourite mantras you can borrow until you create your own:

There is nothing I can't do!

I am powerful.

Nothing that is truly meant for me will ever miss me.

I am worthy of love and affection, and I show it to myself first.

And my personal favourite from Miss Queen B herself:

"I don't like to gamble, but if there's one thing I'm willing to bet on, it's myself'

Do with that what you will!

I wanted to take a final moment before we sign off to talk to the team and ask them how they feel about coming out of lockdown? And what confidence means to them?

Plyska, Marketing And PR Manager

'Knowing that everyone is probably feeling the same, and it's okay not to go "back to normal" because we can make up our new normal how we like.'

Bethan - Creative Executive

'Everyone is in the same boat and your feelings are totally valid - everybody is feeling somewhat anxious about the world reopening and voicing your concerns and anxieties to your friends/ family/ support network can help you heal and find some normality and balance. That being said, you don't have to succumb to the same habits and lifestyle that you were used to before. This is your chance to start fresh and do whatever makes you feel comfortable and happy. Whether that be going to clubs, restaurants and gigs or meeting up with friends in the park and indulging in self-care at home, do whatever makes you feel safe, happy and content.'

Khloe - Graphic Designer

'Not being to socialise properly for a year and half has been really difficult on my mental health and I know I'm not the only one. Being able to see friends I haven't seen in ages feels amazing and being able to go to a gig, make friends has helped my mental health soo much. I totally understand people don't feel comfortable going back into social situations and that's totally okay! I'm happy to wait to see friends until they are comfortable to. I want people to have fun but also feel safe and keep other safes. Please still wear masks and socially distances in shops and on public transport, just because you're happy to be out again others may not or may still be at risk. Be kind and considerate to others.'

And that's a wrap, people! What do you do to feel more confident and how are you feeling about moving into the new normal? We cover loads more topics over on our blog and we want to invote you over to our Instagram too; things get a little wild if you need a distraction.
